W3 stuck on boot after failed update

Hello, Smiley Happy

I just bought a Iconia W3 810 today, after setting up and Microsoft account i needed to install 108 updates. After they all downloaded en installed en had to reboot. Configuring the new updates failed and now whenever I try to boot it shows a message telling there was an error configuring the windows updates and that it tries to undo the changes. It has been stuck on this for hours, and when I set the boot order to boot the Acer Recovery disc it will boot the disc, but wont return it to factory settings because of a wrong disc. (I've tried both dvd 1 and dvd 2 in an externally powered usb dvd drive) I have no way of booting the tablet or changing anything now. Is there a way to fix this or do I have to return it to the store and get a refund?

Hello, If a disc is required you will have to get the accessories. As far as the Windows install, Windows will not have the necessary drivers for your tablet. I would try the Acer support chat option or return if you have that option. If you do some searching here in this forum you will find many people trying to alter the way the tablet is from the factory. But not much success.

    Hi,

I have the exact same dilemna. Bought my tablet a few weeks ago, just opened it last week and an update this morning seems to have killed it. Don't have any way of connecting a CD for restore as there is no cable or external drive that I could use..

How can I restore my Iconia W3?

Hello, The quickest fix would be return it. Did you do the Acer updates before the Windows update?

Hello Asim,  Can you get to the start window? If so, you may be able to do a restore to before the update. Again, the Acer updates (drivers and firmware) should be done before Windows Updates. If you need to recover from the DVD then you will need several accessories. There are messages here that explain how to go about the recovery DVD.

No I did not install the Acer updates. The Acer download page offered a driver set but it seemed up to date, and a BIOS update but that one just warned me not to screw with it. But since I can still open the BIOS menu for boot order and boot a dvd, wouldn't it be possible to just reinstall windows? Is there a W8(.1) version available that is compatible out of the box with the Iconia W3? I saw some topics on this forum about people installing another W8 version, but that required the W3 keyboard which i don't own.
