acer aspire v5-552g wireless and touchpad problems windows 8

Brand new Acer laptop, running perfectly except for the two following issues:

Touchpad:

Initial problems with the dafault driver provided by Microsoft for Synaptic. The physical buttons woul work but bad gestures support and a lot of lag (sometimes it would take up to 5 sec until the action performed by the gesture would execute). After updating the SMBus driver to version 17.0.18.8 (latest) everyting would go fine, perfect gesture support but the physical right touchpad button would break (no action). I can get right click action as expected by performing a 2FingersTap ar with an external USB mouse.

Wireless:

Problems with the integrated Atheros AR5BWB222 Wireless adaptop. Now I know that many people experienced problems in the past with this notebook model and wireless but in my case the nature of the problem is different.

I do get good connectivity (NOT experiencing the *limited network connection issue*) but I ge deplorable Up/Down speed (arond 500/600 Kb/s). I must specify that on the same network with an Asus notebook I get about 7/8 Mb/s.

Please help!

Have you tried loading the latest drivers from the Acer support site?

What version driver are you using for your touchpad and WiFi?

What brand and type of router are you using?

Are you using security on the router? Do you get the same speeds if it is unsecured?

I also want to add that this si brand new Acer Aspire V5-552g, i have it from 3 or 4 weeks. The problem start ocuring yestreday until then all went fine. I didn't do anything to my router's settings so it can't be the router since it worked just fine for a couple of weeks. Also other laptops are able to conncet to my wireless network.

If you restore the system with Acer recovery media, does the system function correctly? If it does not, then I suggest you contact Acer service to inquire about repair options. If it does work after recovery with Acer media, then the problem is most likely a driver issue.

The only recovery media I have is a Linux Linpus cd wich is usless bacause i don't have a CD-ROM,. Look now that my sister is gone the issue is gone. I think there is a kinda interference betwen these particulat two laptop (mine and my sisters) could that make sens ? If it does what can I do to repair this. Should i still call Acer ?

I have never seen an issue where a touchpad interferes with another touchpad. I would say if the issue appears to be gone, I wouldn't contact repair, unless the issue appears again.

Sorry. Yes, it could be interference  or the way the router is talking to both computers. I seriously doubt you are having a hardware issue, if it is working correctly now.

    Hi!

I just bought my Acer Aspire V5-552g a week ago. Everything seems to be working fine. However, Windows advised me to install updates which I did. After installing the updates the touch gestures are are not working anymore. I tried updating my drivers, which I downloaded from the Acer support site, but it did not help. All gestures are not working. I have no idea what I need to do. Is this a result of updating Windows? How can I undo the update?

I am hoping for a response.

    Thanks!

If you look in Device Manager, do you see any X's or exlamation marks for your touchpad?

What driver does it say it is using?

It is possible Microsoft is using precision touchpad gestures which are a little different. You can find information on those gestures and adjusting settings at http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-8/touchpad.

Try reinstalling the touchpad driver in eRecovery. There is a video to show you how. If that doesn't work, you can try downloading and installing the touchpad driver from http://us.acer.com/ac/en/US/content/drivers.
