Hello,

I got Acer 5740 laptop,

I have some strange issue with my laptop,

The power cord seems to work, but its not charging, the laptop works without the battery.

The power (blue circle) button is blinking, but the blue line connecting to it isn't.

The touch mouse not reacting, the orange off/on button isn't working as well and the orange led isn't lighting.

Couldn't get any reaction of the FN button, but the keyboards seems to work fine beside this button.

The WIFI seems to be turned off, and the 3 buttons near the power button (wireless, bluetooth, and the 3rd one) not working as well...

Beside that, the laptop making slight buzzing noise that doesn't stop... Its first time I get such issue, The laptop been home, probably turned on, when that happened, The laptop got cooling pad, so I should had to heat up, laptop's fan is working. If anyone got clues what that can be I would like to hear Smiley Indifferent

Thanks!

Does the WIFI light come back on when you toggle Fn+F3? Does your screen turn  off and on when you toggle Fn+F5? Finally, how old is your battery. If the machine does not turn on when both the battery AND the power cord are attached, it's likely the battery has an internal leak or is somehow leaking to ground.

Only the bluetooth's light is on,

the fn button doesn't work I think so there is no reaction what so ever,

the power cord seems to work as the computer works without the battery,

the battery doesn't seems to charge, with out the cord it lasts for 10 seconds...

In the windows the battery indicator (near the clock) says there is no battery detected,

even if the battery is in...

    And another thing just happened,

    the screen gone all white...

I suggest that you refrain from installing the old battery just in case there is a huge internal leak that's taxing components on your MB. I think it's worth $25 with free shipping to try a quality new replacemen t battery from Amazon to see if this resolves the issue. http://www.amazon.com/5740-5144-5740G-5309-5740G-5323-5740G-6395-5740G-6979/dp/B005H3DX2W/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1401471052&sr=8-1&keywords=acer+5740+battery

Sorry, if the laptop also now doesn't work without the battery, then the possibility of collateral damage might have occured since you first posted this. Again, all I can suggest is replacing the battery and possibly popping off the keyboard and back cover to re-seat all the connections for the vidicam/video cables on an outside chance they're slightly loose or have some corrosion.

Unplug the unit and take the battery out. Look in the slot where the battery goes and examine the connector.

Does it look as though any of the blade terminals are touching? Imo it sounds as though you somehow caused damage to the connector whereas you should be able to see the apparent damage if any of those prongs are bent/touching.

This happened when I wasnt even home,
Means no one even touched the laptop...
II noticed there are bugs with the graphics, such as white screen, and bugs like that..
I got no internet and touch mouse doesnt work, few buttons don't work...
I did disassembley the laptop, cleaned and check everything, looks fine accept some buzzing noize, that disappears when I disconnect the fan.
I am going to try to format the windows tomorrow..
I assume that this may be a virus or something borned out..

So formating the windows didn't help...

What can be a reason for blinking blue led in the power on/off button?

Congratulations! Factory-shipped bios usually don't cause such drastic problems. Which version did you update to? Are you still running Win7?

Not sure which one I installed, just downloaded the 3 was there for my model,

and tried to install from the oldest to the newest...

some of the installation didn't work due to some error..

    And yes, running windows 7...
