After turning on my laptop from sitting quite awhile it booted up fine. The issue happened when I went into the bios and set the laptop to use one core with no hyperthreading. After restarting the laptop it turned on, fans spun up, finally the hard drive spun up and clicked followed by a shutdown. Every time I boot up the computer on battery it shutdowns after a few seconds, yet when I plug into ac into shuts down to restart and stay on with no post. After all of this I wondered is they're anyway to reset the bios without replacing the motherboard?

The problem you are experiencing does not sound like an issue with the BIOS. It sounds more like a hardware issue with either the HDD or motherboard. If you feel it is not a hardware issue and you want to reset your BIOS to default settings, then when you are in the BIOS load default settings by pressing F9 and then press F10 to save changes and exit BIOS Setup.

If the computer is still responding the same, then I would recommend seeking service as there may be a hardware issue as previously stated.
