Hello

I have searched high and low on this subject but i cannot find anything at all that matches this issue. I am being asked to downgrade from a factory install of windows 8 to windows 7 on an acer aspire V5-571-6670. Win8 is factory installed. I plugged in my media and tried to press f12 to boot from the media but windows 8 loads instead. I tried to press f2 to enter bios, i hear a beep but it loads windows 8 instead f going to bios. I checked both keys for functionality. I have spammed f2 like mad, rebooted and repeared the spamming...nothing...

I cannot get into bios to change the boot order nor can i access boot options.....what do i do now?

Well after many days of screwing with this dang laptop i finally found a solution. Remove the hard drive and stick it into another laptop and then install your OS. Replace the HDD into the troubled computer, boot it up and then install the drivers.

I have never seen a computer where i could not access bios. Following the directions to access bios through windows 8 didnt work and no other solution worked either. Not even removing the button cell worked. This was the only way to do it and now the computer is running fine.....however i still cant access bios. At least the laptop has windows 7 on it now.

In Windows 8, you won't be able to access the BIOS by pressing a key on the keyboard before the OS loads because the boot process in Window 8 is really quick. You'll need to access Windows 8 boot options menu.
There are several ways to access Windows 8's boot options menu. The easiest one to find is in the PC Settings application - press WinKey+C to reveal the Charms bar, click Settings, and select Change PC settings to access it.
In the PC Settings application, select the General category and click the Restart now button under Advanced startup. Your computer will restart and you'll enter the Windows 8s boot options menu, where you can access the UEFI BIOS and change other settings.

You can also hold Shift while clicking Restart in the Shut Down menu to restart your computer into the boot options menu. This is a quick way to restart into the boot options menu, as you can access the Shut Down button from the Charms anywhere on your system.

I will try holding shift while restarting, but the UEFI option does not appear anywhere after the computer restarts into that menu. I have went down that road already by doing a google search on this issue. All of the other options are there except the EUFI option.

    thanks

i even dissambled the laptop and removed the battery for 10 minutes and that still didnt fix the situation. i simply cannot access bios no matter what i do!!! the uefi option is gone and holding shift while restarting does not work.

ill do whatever it takes to access bios....is there any other way?
