just got the computer.

am trying to make a factory backup disc. But the DVD does not see the disc that i've inserted. I know the disc is good.

checked for ASER updates. None.

The drive is an HL DT ST DVDRAM GH70N.

uninstalled the driver in device manager and let windows reinstall it at start up. no help. Device manager shows all good.

Tried to burn a couple other files to the disc. didn't work.

Any help will be appreciated. I don't want to start adding software until i have a backup disk, so I'm at a dead stop.

thanks.

    Hello

    Check this solutions first

Step 1: Click Start > Run. Type in " sysdm.cpl " into the dialog box that it shows. Click okay and it should bring you to a "System Properties" dialog box.

Step 2: Go to the tab "Hardware" and click "Device Manager" once there locate your driver. Mine was called "DVD/CD-ROM drives." Double-click it to show it's contents and there should be another device under it. Mine had an question mark but in some cases it might have an exclamation point next to the name. Mine was called "AOPEN DUW1608/ARR" but if your's is different, it's okay.

Step 3: Double-click the newly revealed hardward "AOPEN DUW1608/ARR" and it's own dialog box will appear. Go to the "Driver" tab and select "Update Driver..." from the buttons below.

Step 4: Now, select "Install from a list or specific location" and click Next. In the next box select "Don't search. I will choose the driver to install" and again, click next. A different box will show with compatible hardware for your driver. I selected from the bottom believing it was the most recent, it was called "CD-ROM Drive [IMAPI settings 1,5]." Click next and finish the instructions it gives you.

    If not trye this one

    • run regedit.exe
    • navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}
    • Depending on your particular setup, you may have multiple entries for {4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}. If this is the case, find the one that says DVD/CD-ROM drives (under default)
    • Once you have found the appropriate key, you will see an entry that says UpperFilters.
    • Delete this key and then restart
    • (NB: Do not delete any other 'UpperFilters' key that is not in the category of DVD/CD-ROM drives, otherwise you may get the BSOD.)
