No Monitor Signal for Acer Aspire X1935 Desktop

Hi,

I've been experiencing problems with a Acer Aspire X1935 Desktop that I bought last week.

Apparently whilst is says it is VGA compatible, and has a VGA port, apparently it is disabled. So, I bought an HDMI-to-DVI cable to connect the desktop to my monitor that does not have HDMI. That worked for one day after doing all the installing and sorting out of updates, but the next morning I could not get a signal on my monitor.

I bought a new Samsung Monitor with HDMI and that arrived today, along with an HDMI-to-HDMI cable. However, that is also not picking up the PC.

I've now spent the last few days simply trying to get a signal from the PC onto a monitor and I am really at the end of my tether.

Can anyone help?

Thanks Tom. I am now using HDMI-to-HDMI but in terms of the second thread:

    1. Test another VGA cable

    I've used three cables now.

    2. Test another external display

    Three separate monitors tested.

    3. Does the machine make a beeping sound when switching it on?

The machine beeps four times when switched on.

    4. If you know how to, you can test memory and hdd by removing them.

I possibly could remove them, but I would have no idea how to test them. And given that it is a brand new machine, I suspect I may end up doing more bad than good.

As I said, on Saturday the machine worked for a day, and then on Sunday it would not connect to the monitor again.

    4 short beeps

    Error message    System timer failure

Description        The system clock/timer IC has failed or there is a memory error in the first bank of memory

So i guess you've got problem with your ram memory.

    Open your pc case

Check your RAM Memory if they are connect properly, trye to switch on again

Connect to different module slot and trye turn on again.

Take out battery for about 5 min, putt again and switch on pc.

Check other connections if they are properly.

Hi Tom - thanks for your help.

It is very odd that it didn't work, then it did work, then it didn't again if there is a problem such as this. I don't think I have ever had to open a machine up to fix it fresh out of the box but I guess I can give it a go.

Is this normal with Acer machines? This is my first one.

I newer had to open brand new PC, but its happened sometimes. Check this solution what I write down. If doesn't help just go to store where you bought it and tell them to fix it, or give new unit. This days everything is on massive production so they can do mistake. On forum I read threads about not working new PC's.

I bought it through Ebuyer and I have a year warranty.

On the side of my unit is a sticker stating that I could void my warranty by opening the machine so I don't really know if I should do that now. It's very frustrating that a brand-new PC would do this. I have wasted so many days on this now and regret choosing this machine.

    Thank you again.

If you have void, better don't open PC. Contact with Acer support first and let see what they say. I know its frustrating but its from ebayer so something can happened in way. Sorry to hear that, hope when it will be running properly you will be happy from Acer product. I have aspire all in one 5600u and I'm happy with this unit. Before have z5801 and was reall dodgy. 4 times was send to service and that was frustrating. So I hope you sort your one:-)

I have exactly the same problem, having just bought an X1935 Desktop.  Monitor states 'No Signal' despite trying the 15-pin cable and the DVI cable - no joy.  From reading the comments above it seems something has shaken loose in transit, or memory(?) has been put in the wrong port so PC doesn't recognise a signal coming in.  Guess I'll phone Acer in the morning (rather than open the box yet) and see what they say.  It's extremely frustrating when you upgrade your PC and it doesn't just boot up as you expect...

As I can't do anything to control the Desktop, it seems to have become inactive, and the blue Power buton is flashing on and off - does anyone know what this means?  The PC arived without any manual at all  Smiley Sad

Many thanks in advance for any comments.

    JM
