Got my new laptop a couple of weeks ago and I'm extremly frustrated with the touch pad. In fact, I've had to attach an external mouse! I am not able to scroll, click to open any link or left, or right click anything. Am I missing something? Am I using the touch pad incorrectly? Quick google search does not bring up my specifc problem. HELP!

Win8 or 8.1? Elan or Synaptics touchpad? Press the WinKey then the R-Key. Enter main.cpl and play with some of the touchpad settings.

PS: My touchpad works great and apparently has no problems either --- except for me.  I too got so frustrated with trying to use it that I disabled it and never looked back.

Thanks Jack...I have Win 8.1 and a Synaptics keypad. I'm actually my school's technology specialist so I do have a working knowledge about technology.  I honestly believe this is user error. I believe that I'm not using the gestures correctly. I just can't figure the darn things out. I have a macbook as well as a Chromebook and the gestures vary slightly with each device. As much as I work with technology, I feel STUPID with this touchpad. Even my Computer Engineer majoring son laughs at me and thinks this is user error.
