Brother Forget about this. if you want to see just youtube and play candy crush then purchase ACER If you are software developer and using software like VM don't purchase ACER laptop. I have Acer Aspier V5-431 - 64 os, no Vt-X on processor (intel 987). I have to load linux 64 vm iso on windows 8 but it said no and say your machine is not virtual enabled. nowadays all high-tech software's and Vm images come with 64 os and must need VT-X enabled. i have spoke with customer care , they have no idea and told me to contact to local acer service station. i have spoke with local guy and he is help less , reason as below. 1) if u update bios , it will not going to work at all because physically there is no VT-X attached with my laptop processor. 2) i ask can i change this processor with VT-X enabled processor, i am ready to pay , he said all processor are inbuilt and highly mapped with mother board, so it is not possible technically local support person is right and this is ACER 'S mistake or business strategy. so what options i have ? 1) use 32 bit os vm images , which like high school kid programming. 2) purchase new laptop with VT-X enabled facility like I have save my money for this new laptop. such a bull**bleep** they can not provide small thing. 3) There is no other option . if you want to see just youtube and play candy crush then purchase ACER If you are software developer and using software like VM don't purchase ACER laptop.

Sorry to hear that you're not happy with your Acer. You are correct, the Intel 987 processor does not support VT-x according to Intel's specification.

We do enable hardware virtualization products that meet the requirements, sometimes they do require an update to a pro or enterprise version of Windows if that's what you're interested in using.
