Revo RL80 HDMI/DVI outputs not working

Hi all.

I bought a Acer Revo from simplyacer.co.uk and I've not had much luck with it.

At first I was going to set it up on my TV as that is where it will be living, but the TV wasn't picking up a signal via HDMI. No biggie, might be a driver issue or just my TV being a pain.

I plug in one of my monitors from my gaming rig over DVI, it works and so I go about updating and installing up to windows 8.1. I also install the latest Intel HD 3000 gfx driver with the hope that it will somehow fix the HDMI and TV. Restart, everythings working fine.

Turn off, unplug the monitor and input the HDMI to TV again. Still not being detected. Try some different HDMI cables to see if it's a cable issue. No luck.

Next step is to connect gaming rig up to the TV via HDMI to make sure my TV isn't to blame and it works fine.

Final nail in the coffin is I reconnect the Revo to the PC monitor, and now that doesn't work either, so that makes both HDMI and DVI outputs null and void.

I can't think of anything else that I can do without opening up the case and having a peak inside, but that'll void the warrenty.

Guess I have a lengthy wait (**bleep** May Day bank holiday) for tech support.

Any ideas what I can do, or is this simply a dud unit?

Thanks!

    Bravo,

I am sorry to hear that you received a message that they want to charge you. I am unable to help but would definitely recommend contacting them and inquiring what they are charging you for and why. I hope you get this situation handled.

    Hello,

It sounds like you have done a lot of troubleshooting and not much that I can add. If it was driver related you should still see the splash screen (Acer logo) and be able to get into the BIOS. It sounds like service may be your only option as it could be hardware related.

Sorry for the late reply, I've been busy with work.

Well I sent it off to Acer to get repaired. Got a letter back today saying they want to charge me £280 to get it fixed.

I had the machine for a couple of days and it didn't work correctly from the get go. I'm not paying that, no sir.

I only paid £250 in the first place.

    Ridiculous.

Going to be some phone calls going out tomorrow.

Thanks bud. I will have no fear.

To quote the letter, "please be advised that this repair is deemed chargeable due to damage or a software issue... will not be covered by the 1 year warranty as stipulated in the terms and conditions". Unusual as the system was sent out with these issues.

    Thanks for your help Ryan.
