    Hello, I have the Acer D270 and currently running Windows XP. The Acer D270 uses different hardware component vendors depending on model number and markets. I got everything installed correctly by first finding out what my hardware components were for my specific model and by trial and error as the Acer hardware vendor program did not show correct information.

    In my case the BT and Wifi was broadcom, Touchpad was synaptics, Lan was Realtek. All of this I was able to find through googe search.

    For a "workaround" Video driver in XP check this link. http://communities.intel.com/message/177284

    To install Windows XP you have to slipstream the correct SATA drivers with nLite.

    Let me know if there is a specific driver you are missing and what hardware you got.

    Windows XP with the correct drivers installed and with the "Adjust for best performance" option checked in the Advanced tab under System Properties works very fast on this notebook, much faster than Windows 7 or Ubunto. Acer should really provide drivers for Windows XP for this model. It's a perfect match.

    @Rami

    Does the "workaround" Video driver mentioned in that link for  XP allow you to:

     1) adjust the screen brightness ?

     2) retain your brightness settings on restart ?

    Thanks!
