Hi. I got new Acer aspire E1-510 with preinstalled Linux. I wanted to install my Windows 7 from installation CD, but I encountered problems.
- When I enter boot menu with F12, there is only one option and that is booting from HDD. No other option.
I figured that mabe there would be some option to change it in BIOS, but BIOS is password protected. It was already password protected when I got it.
- Therefore I cant install any other operating system, because I cant boot from CD or USB and I cant even change settings.
- Somewhere I read that removing the CMOS battery might help to restore the BIOS, but I dont even know what should I do. Should I just remove it for a few minutes or what ? Also I dont have a clue how the warranty works. I fear that if I unscrew some parts or something I will have a problem with warranty , or so I was told by a friend.
- What other options do I have ? Can you help me ? Thanks .

Hello Eddy070792,
I looked on acer support website and I found only Windows 8 for Aspire E1-510.
In which contry do you live?
What's your bios setup utility? (Inside, Award, Phoenix etc)

Eddy,
This post might be useful to you, http://community.acer.com/t5/Notebooks-Netbooks/Acer-e1-510-linux-model-boot-problem/m-p/239640#M39347
The BIOS that comes on the E1-510 only supported UEFI mode. The new BIOS that I point out in that thread above add Legacy support. With Legacy support you should be able to change boot orders and install Windows 7.
