No Windows Vista Basic DVD but I do have a Product Key!

Hi

I am using a borrowed Acer E625 eMachine that shipped with Vista Basic.  It obviously has a product key underneath but the Vista installation and recovery partitions were both formatted to Linux.  This is not satisfactory as the Linux OS is not mature.

There is nowhere I can find a DVD to install from. Acer does not even recognize this machine's SN or SNID as underneath; it probably is too old.  Being dependent upon a state disability grant, I cannot afford a Vista CD.

Can I perhaps download it and make my own DVD, then install from there and activate using the actual product key?  If so, please share the link with me.

Thanks a million

    Hello WinDroid,

In which country do you live?

You can't download the eRecovery medias.

I am in South Africa and very far from Johannesburg, which makes it rather difficult.  Most PC vendors are based there and have unsatisfactory representation elsewhere, as they only depend upon retailers.

In a culture where people just throw things away because it is old, nobody wants to add some effort to anything and courteous service is not their priority.

    Hello,

You can order the eRecovery media DVDs on South Africa Customer Service:

    1. Recovery using CDs or DVDs
    2. Click on the link Customer Service
    3. To send an e-mail click on Customer Care
    4. Normally, you see this page Ask a Question

Windows Vista is always supported by Microsoft and Acer too.
