Problem getting into Acer Explorer

New Acer V5-552.  I upgraded from Windows 8 to 8.1 yesterday, and now I want to get into the Acer Explorer section for more info about the laptop and Windows.

 

But when I click on the Acer Explorer box from the Start screen I get the explorer page with a white band across, side to side, with a message on it:  "The new version of Acer Explorer requires that you upgrade to the latest version of Windows"

 

I did a search for new updates and was told that there were none available.

 

So my questions are:  how do I get past that white band message into Acer Explorer and if an upgrade beyond the upgrade from 8 to 8.1 is necessary and available how to I get that.

    If a pre-installed Windows 8 app was removed you can find it on the Windows Store and install the same for windows 8.1.

    Use the following steps to download and install a removed app:

    1. Press the Windows (Image: icon_Windows8_key.png) key + C, or swipe in from the right edge of the screen to open your Charms and select Search.
    2. Type Store, tap or click on Apps, and then click on Store from the search results.
    3. Press the Windows (Image: icon_Windows8_key.png) key + C, or swipe in from the right edge of the screen to open your Charms and select Search, then type the name of the app you want to reinstall and press Enter.
    4. Locate and select your app, then click Install. If you haven't signed in to the Windows Store, sign in using your Microsoft account.

    The apps you reinstall can be found at the end of your Start Screen or under the All Apps menu.

    Some Acer apps available through the Windows Store are:

    • Acer Music
    • Acer Docs
    • Acer Photo
    • Acer Remote Files
    • Acer Explorer
    • Acer Crystal Eye
    • Acer Crystal Eye (tablet edition)
    • Acer Explorer
    • Acer Scrapboard

    Hi and thanks,

     

    I'm afraid this didn't take care of the problem.

     

    I went to the Store, entered Acer Explorer, and got a "We couldn't find Acer Explorer" message.

     

    Acer Explorer is still on the start menu but it appears it's being blocked for some reason.

     

    I click on the AE button from the start menu or from the collection of tiny icons below and it always opens with that white band across the AE display saying I need to upgrade to the latest version of Windows.

    I have the same problem, I'm on windows 8. I spoke to acer tech support and did not get an answer. Did you ever get a solution to the problem. I'm very frustrated with acer
