Hello anyone and everyone who could possibly help me,

I was working in Excel, as I'm an Engineering student at California State University Fresno, one day and the equal button decided to stop working.  So I said ehh what the heck must be a bad day, I just used the insert symbol ribbon.  Then it continued to happen for two weeks, which is now, and the up arrow, left arrow, and num lock button now also don't work.  There is nothing wrong with the functionality of each button, like it presses down just as easy as other buttons but the function of the button just doesn't work on screen.  I checked the device manager and it says everything is functioning properly.  What should I do cause it making my life harder and harder to perform routine functions in Excel, MAthCad, AutoCad, etc... and I've only had this new laptop for 3 almost 4months now.  The laptop is an Acer Aspire V3 - 771G-6814.  Intel Core i5-3230M 2.6Ghz / NVIDIA GeForce GT730M / 17.3 HD LED LCD Screen \ 8GB DDR3 Ram \ 750 GB HDD \ Believe its an HID keyboard Device?.  So its a good investment for school given the functionality of buttons actually work.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

If certain buttons recently stopped working, then there is a hardware problem with the keyboard, and it would need to be replaced. I recommend contacting the Acer service center in your region to inquire about repair options. For the time being, you could attach an external keyboard. I know that is not an ideal situation, but would be a work around if you are in a pinch.

Thank you for the reply.  Would there happen to be a warranty on the keyboard? Cause this laptop is only like 4months old.  Been used for school and mild web surfing for research projects.  I've also researched some chatter about how the HID keyboard connection are very weak for the models like mine.  People on other technical forumns said they recommend opening up the laptop and physically reattaching the wires/contacts. I'm sure opening up the laptop would void the warranty if I had any of that sort... as I ordered this model off NewEgg.com.  Any suggestions there?

If you are within your warranty period, and there is no physical damage to the system (such as a liquid spill), there should be no charges for warranty work on your system. I recommend contacting technical support in your region to set a repair up on the system. We do not recommend opening the notebook to repair the keyboard.
