s241HL sound issue

Just got this monitor. Love it. The sound is so low, I have no idea what's going on.  It is set as default audio device but the sound is so faint and it's turned up all the way. I am connected via HDMI cable. Swapping cables did not change anything. Volume on monitor is at 100%. ALso used the green audio cabnle to plug into audio out on my MB and audio in on the s241HL.  No change in sound. Device manager shows generic pnpnm monitor. D/L acer drivers for this monitor, windows stated driver already up to date.  w7 64 bit

Acer does not seem to care.

others in the newegg reviews say this is a problem, but they do nothing at Acer. my first Acer product could be the last.

how do you sell something like this ?

got better sound out of 7 transistor radio in 1963. the first piece of electronics i ever bought.

    come on Acer.

maybe we should take tis to facbook ???

    Hi guys,

I've checked internally to see if there are any specific issues and I have not found any at this point. I'm asking some follow up questions.

Can you help me with a better understanding of what qualifies as low sound? Monitor speakers are designed for personal sound, and sometimes expectations are not met when trying to fill a room, multiple people, or even overall sound quality.

low sound/volume...... is that not self explanatory ?

i can touch the monitor from my chair.

hooked mine up to my desktop. the sound that came out was less than half of what i get out of my laptop speakers.

my expectations were that they would be equal to those in my laptop at least.

these should be called whisper spaekers, because thats all they do.

you guys not finding this to be true ?

Seriously?  This is just getting ridiculous.

    Fine.

I am sitting 13.56 inches from my monitor.    When watching a video with windows sound tured up to max and flash player turned up to max, I can barely hear it.

when playing music and windows turned up to max and mp3 player turned up to max I can barely hear it.

    So low sound.

Sorry guys, my inent wasn't to irritate you. Unfortunately, sometimes peoples expectations don't always meet reality when it comes to laptop and monitor speakers. Sometimes I have to ask the dumb questions Smiley Happy

Unfortunately, I have to suggest contacting support to look at setting up repair. I'm not finding any systemic issue with the S241HL. This thread's been open for nearly 4 months with only the 2 of you contributing to it. I apologize that I don't have more direct solution at this time.

bahhh, yeah not worh contacting support over. live and learn i guess.   If it would be worth it making a video recording I would, but dont really have any kind of  control to compare it to and the qulaity would not be able to decribe the lack of volume sufficiently.

    thanks anyways

Defending this aspect of this product by Acer gives them a really bad look IMO

    just stop it.

blame it on something in the production already, we all make mistakes.

mine was thinking this unit had sound.
