Hi. I have owned a aspire 7730g for 4 years now. since i bought it, i have changed OS from vista to windows 7. the last year my laptop have behaved strangely. the fans and the heat coming out are insane. and i dont why, but sometimes, when i try to play games who require some juice, like xcom;enemy unknown, the computer shuts down instantly, like killing my laptop. im trying to push the power button, but nothing happens, its all dark. but after approx 10 minutes i can power it up again. yesterday, i played diablo 3 for about 3 hours straight then it happened again, utter darkness. any ideas why this happens? is it a warranty trigger maybe, when it runs out, my laptop gets killed so i have to pay for repairs? (that was a joke btw). are there anyone who can help?

After some time dust build up can occur as well as some degredation in the thermal paste. I would suggest thoroughly cleaning the machine out as best you can to see if that helps. Maybe take the back panels off and use an air compressor or canned air to get everything out.

A more radical step might be to reseat the heatsink completely applying new thermal paste. If you do those two things I think you'll see a nice improvements in your laptops quality of life.
