Power Supply Voltage

So, I just moved into a country with the standard UK voltage, and I plugged my USA power supply (Aspire M3470) in and turned the switch on, and heard a pop. The computer will not turn on now, and I am really worried. Any ideas/suggestions?

    Hi KKosco

It sounds as if you've just killed your power supply unit!

UK voltage is 220-240 volts - the USA is 120 volts. The best thing to do is to buy a UK power supply and fit it in your M3470. Also, replace the power cord too, it is likely the fuse in the plug will have blown (or just replace the fuse!).

However, there is also a possibility you may have fried your motherboard too. If, after replacing the power supply (and cord), your PC doesn't boot, that will be the reason. BUT, hopefully it is just the power supply that's dead!
