Not detecting network adapter acer iconia w510

My wifi isn't able to detect any local networks.  I'm sure it's not my server as I've tried resetting it and my other computer is connecting fine.  I've tried resetting windows 8 but I'm getting the same problem.

If you have already performed a system restore and still not able to detect any local networks via Wi-Fi, it may indicate a hardware issue. When you go into your Device Manager does it show your network adapter listed?

Hey I have the same problem and yes my Device Manager shows that's my network adapter is listed, but when I go to Change Adapter Settings in the control panel, it tells me that the folder is empty. Also when I click on troubleshoot it tells me that the network adapter could not be detected and that I might need to reinstall the driver

Typically when the adapter is shown in Device Manager but not working it means the driver has somehow gotten corrupted. Uninstalling the drivers (check the remove files option) then rebooting will reinstall drivers and usually get it back.
