White Screen, Acer Aspire One D255

Well hi!

So a bit of a back story is that I'm joining the Navy and spoke with a few friends who are already in and asked if we're allowed to have personal computers, they explained that we are and blahblah, they have to be laptops, blah.

So I traded my digital camera to a friend for his Aspire One (D255) which has a problem where while it's started up the whole screen is white, and will change shades of white depending on what is supposed to be on the screen. (I am able to plug a monitor into the laptop and get the screen to show up there, which has allowed me to get the laptop set up and stuff)

But now I'm curious if anyone knows what might be causing this problem?

At first I just assumed the screen was broken by how he described it, but for it to be changing I thought maybe the cord connecting the monitor to the bottom half might be loose?

Any opinions?

The problem you are describing is definitely a display issue. It can indeed be a broken screen or it can be the LCD cable. The cable can either be pinched or bad and need to be replaced. In this case I would recommend taking it to a repair facility or contacting Acer's technical support in your region.
