I have an Acer Aspire 5552, and the Crystal Eye webcam won't work. When I run the Crystal Eye application, it tells me that the camera either isn't installed or that someone else is using it. I've been doing everything I can find online to fix this, and it seems that everyone starts by saying find it in the Device Manager under Imaging so I can see if the driver is out of date. When I go to the Device Manager, the webcam isn't there at all. I went to Acer's software downloads to find a driver for it, but since there isn't a specific driver for it, I didn't download any. There were three applications to download for it, but none of them could find the webcam. It's as if the computer doesn't know that it has a built in webcam.
Why can't I find the webcam in the Device Manager, or is it supposed to even appear there at all? This wasn't my laptop to start with, and I'm afraid the previous owner could have uninstalled it. I"m desperate at this point, and it doesn't seem like any one else is having trouble finding the webcam in their Device Manager. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
