Acer Aspire 6930g Windows Vista Not booting from Recovery Disk

Hi,

I have an Acer Aspire 6930g running Windows Vista Home Premium and has been working perfectly fine.

Last week it started giving me a message that BO Operating system found. Local shop told me that the hard disk is corrupted and I got a new Hard Drive. Installed the hard drive. Started the Laptop. Inserted the Recovery Disk1 and it does not boot. Since the Laptop came with pre-installed OS, I do not have an OS Disk. I thought it will boot from my Recovery Disk and restore whatever was there at the time the restore disks were created.

Kindly advise what is the best option available?

Many thanks in advance.

The recovery discs will install factory shipped OS, drivers and apps that came with this laptop.

Have you changed the BIOS settings in the laptop before you boot it from the disc?

Here are the steps to change the boot settings in the BIOS. You may try the same and check if it works.

Restart the laptop and keep tapping the F2 to enter into the BIOS.
    Insert the first disc.

    Select the "Boot" tab.
Under the Boot Priority, select 1 as "CD/DVD drive".

Press the F10 key and select "Yes" to save the changes in BIOS.
    The laptop will restart now.

If it does not work, you may check if the recovery disc is available Online

If not, you may use a retail version of OS to install on this laptop.

    Thanks for your reply.

Tried it again and it does not recognize the DVD, although the DVD displays full directories when I inserted it on another laptop.

I tried to re-install Vista using an old Vista demo CD and it installed fully, but after the first boot, it says the license is expired. Is there anyway I can do the Factory Format of the Hard Disk and try the recovery DVD?

Kindly advise how I can do this.
