Erecovery issue

Hi, I have a r problem when my Aspire 4755G had a crashed HDD 2 weeks ago and it is out of warranty. I got the HDD replaced and windows 7 64 bit home premium reinstalled. The microsoft sticker with S/N helped. When I wanted to recreate the erecovery disks, it said the factory default are different from the current config. The new HDD is a Toshiba 500 Gb disk (2 partitions) vs the crashed WDC 750 Gb disk (single partition). Was that the reason why the erecovery could not proceed? How do I go around this problem?

I have another newer V5-571 laptop running Windows 8. The microsoft sticker under it does not have a S/N. WIll this pose an issue if a similar situation as above crashed HDD is to happen? This time, I do not know whether reinstalling Windows 8 without a S/N is possible with a newly replaced HDD.

Would appr advice.

Thanks

I would try Macrium reflect or AOMEI Backupper to create a Recovery disk and back up your system to an external Hard Drive.

If you use Macrium reflect, create a Win PE recovery disk with CD/USB drive, then do the backup. If you need more help, post your question.

    Hi,

I downloaded AOMEI Backupper and created a win PE iso image file. The software don't seem to read my blank DVD and insisted I replaced it with a writable disk. I tried a few of the blank dvds with no luck.

This iso file is just a bootable file of my C: but not a proper recovery disk?

So Windows 8 big difference from Windows 7 is that you don't need the COA (Certificate of Authenticity) anymore. Windows 8 has a unique key implemented into motherboard. The Acer Serial Number sticker should be on the bottom of the unit. It may be moved under the battery bay to keep the visibility of the sticker to a minimum.

Use RW disks using Macrium Reflect, it might work.
