International Travelers Warranty

*Excuse my non-proper English

Hi, I am a native Korean and I bought the Acer Iconia w700 at Aug 9th 2013 in the States. I still do have the receipt, and some order information latters in my mail box, which means I can prove the exact date I purchased this item.

I came back to my country a couple of months ago and I wanted to get repair because it has been a little bit slower than before. The only thing i want was to recover.

I sent my laptop yesterday to the Acer Korea A/S center and they called me ealry in the morning, and said,

They can't not repair it for free even though it hasn't been one year that I bought this laptop.

I asked them about the international travelers warranty, and they said since its ITW, not IPW they cant fix it.

I don't have any idea what I'P'W means but I looked up this website and figured out I am supposed to get this

one-full year warranty as well. (Korea is a ITW-able country)

I called them again, but I was told that since I am not American, i can't get it for free. They also told me that I even need to pay for the shipment fees (It's free when you get free A/S service) as well. They even said, it's my fault that I didn't check it in advance but I read the documents about international warranty and that's why I send my laptop. I didn't know I can't get repair for free if I bought it abroad.

Besides, I called them before i sent my laptop and asked them few questions but they never mentioned anything about the warranty stuff. They just asked me the time that I bought, and wanted me to send my laptop right away. They should have asked me or told me about that. That's what they have to do I think.

So I had to pay the repair fee and shipments fee(for both) which doesn't make sense. It's just not fair. What is the international warranty for? The price for the laptop is supposed to include that warranty part, and I paid for it!

I can just take the laptop to the computer-repair shop near my apt and repair it with a lot lower price. But the reason why I sent my laptop to the A/S center is that's more reliable and it's free! But now I had to pay expensive service fee for nothing!

Smiley Sad What shall I do? I am going to get my laptop probably tomorrow or the day after tmw.

I apologize for your frustation and the problems you have come across trying to obtain repair/service. The warranty you purchased is an International Traveler's Warranty and not an International "Repair" warranty. If you want more detail about how the ITW works, please visit http://www.acer.com/worldwide/ and select your country, then Click Support, and then Warranty. For a direct link to our Warranty page in English, visit http://www.acer.com/worldwide/support/itw.htm.

I hope this helps explain the warranty, however, I would still talk and work with your local service center to see what they can do since you just purchased the unit. I truly apologize that you encountered this problem.
