w3 virtual keyboards

Hello, I think I saw a virtual keybord with F keys when I first got my W3. Now I don't see one. I like F2 and F11.

Does anyone know of a way to get F keys on a virtual keyboard?

Here's a quick tutorial from WindowsEight Forums on enabling the various keyboard options in 8.1:

Add Standard Layout in Touch Keyboard in Windows 8.1 and RT 8.1
    1. Open PC Settings, and click/tap on PC and devices on the left side.

    2. Click/tap on Typing on the left side, and do step 3 or 4 below for what you would like to do. (see screenshot below)

    3. To Add Standard Keyboard Layout as a Touch Keyboard Option

    A) On the right side under Touch keyboard, move the slider to the right to turn on Add the standard keyboard layout as a touch keyboard option, and go to step 5 below.

    4. To Remove Standard Keyboard Layout as a Touch Keyboard Option

    A) On the right side under Touch keyboard, move the slider to the left to turn off Add the standard keyboard layout as a touch keyboard option, and go to step 5 below.

    5. When finished, you can close PC settings if you like.

If you tell Windows to use the full keyboard (a bit tricky in Windows 8 and built in in Windows 8.1) the function keys are available by pressing the 'Fn' key at bottom left. If you need them stick around the Accessability Keyboard has them. I've never figured out why Microsoft doesn't offer the Accessability Keyboard as one of the options like the other keyboards...

I have 8.1 now. I only see one keyboard and the writing pad option. I do not see a FN key in the bottom left. I think the 8.0 had 2 or three optional keyboard layouts. I remember one that put a space down the middle of the keyboard.

Yes it is complete just annoying & needs a stylus. Can understand you really would not want on a smart phone but should be standard on a Windows tab.

Thank you very much. That also added the separated keyboard option.

I just got Windows Mail and Windows Calendar (Vista) installed. It took me most of the day.

I like to use the screen print often with filling in credentials.

I also tried my wireless logitech 3/4 size keyboard (from home Entertainment computer) on the micro USB and all worked well. Both the keyboard and the mousepad.

I guess the 8.1 upgrade reset the keyboard option to not show the full keyboard.

    Thanks again

PS: Padgett - I didn't know that I could move the keyboard on the screen. Never thought of it, but it could come in handy.
