i'm having trouble with the screen slide option on my new lappy. i play a lot of online games, and sometimes when i move the cursor from right to left, maybe a bit fast, the **bleep** start strip comes up on the right of the screen, and stops movement in the game unless i tap out, which causes more probs. i know it's a stupid thing, but it drives me insane. is there any way to turn it off?

I understand how the charms bar can hinder your online game play when your cursor touches the right side of the screen. This can be caused by either moving the cursor to the upper-right corner or with swiping from the right edge of the touchpad. If you are using your touchpad, then it sounds like you are swiping from the right edge of your touchpad.

Use the following steps to disable the feature "Edge Swipe".

    1. Press the Windows Key + C, or swipe in from the right edge of the screen to open your Charms.
    2. Select the Search charm.
    3. Type Control Panel, then tap or click Control panel from the search results.
    4. Select Mouse. If you are in Category view, click Hardware and Sound, then select Mouse below Devices and Printers.
    5. Click on the ELAN tab, then click Options.
    6. Under the One-finger tab, click Edge Swipe and then uncheck Enable. This will disable the swipe feature from bringing up your Charms bar with a swipe of the finger from the right edge.

If the problem is from the cursor being moved to the upper-right corner, then disable that feature by following these steps:

    1. From the Desktop, right-click on the Taskbar and click Properties.
    2. Tap or click on the Navigation tab.
    3. Under Corner navigation, uncheck When I point to the uper-right corner, show the charms.
    4. Click Apply, then Ok to exit.
