Booting Acer M5-581T windows 8

So recently I've had a big issue with my Acer M5-581T laptop computer. I dropped one side of the computer about 2 or 3 inches onto the floor (unfortunately on the side the hard drive is on). After I tried to use my computer as normal and all was fine (I got into my desktop and everything except for a cracking noise coming from the area where the hard drive is) until when an application was taking so long to open I thought my computer froze so I did a force **bleep** down by holding the power button. When I tried to start up my computer again I got an error saying there is no bootable device found. I've opened up my computer twice now and checked out the hard drive and it's connection and have determined that if there is something wrong with it it's not internal so it's not simply a loose connection unfortunatly. It must be something in the hard drive itself wether it be corrupted files from shut down or it just totally fried itself after I dropped it. I've looked around at the things I have like a disc to reboot my computer but I don't have anything useful. I wish I had a windows 8 reboot disc but I don't remember one coming with my computer (I have a blank storage disc that came with the computer but I don't believe it has windows 8 on it). I tried rebooting with an old Windows Xp disc just for the heck of it and it seemed to work or load something until I got a blue screen with text saying that my computer was going to shut down to not damage the hard drive. I didn't really expect the disc to work seeing as its the wrong windows but it did at least do something. So now my real question is how can I reboot my computer with windows 8 again without a readily available disc? Do I need to buy one or is there a way I can do it with another PC (I have my moms old laptop but it has Windows Vista). Unfortunatly it's been over a year since I've had this computer and I live in South America so it'll be hard for me to send back my computer for it to be fixed professionally. Any tips or advice is greatly appreciated!
