M5-583P constantly disconnects from internet/router

I have an M5-583P-9688 with an Intel dual band wireless-N 7260 adapter that constantly disconnects from the internet/router.

I purchased the laptop about a week ago. A few days ago I updated to Windows 8.1. I did not have this problem before then. I have ensured that I have the latest driver (16.6.2.1) for the 7260 adapter. I rolled back to an older version (16.5.3.6) and it still has the problem. I have tried various combinations of power management properties for the 7260 adapter including turning on and off "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power" and "Allow this device to wake the computer" with no effect.

When I get disconnected, hovering over the signal bars states my routers name and "No internet acccess" even though there are full bars. All other computers in the house still have internet access. When it says No Internet Access and shows full bars during this time, I cannot connect to the router at 192.168.1.1 either.

I can run the troubleshooters for network and internet and fix the problem each time with these messages:

Run troubleshoot for Network Adapter and it says "Problem with wireless adapter or access point" and "Fixed" and I have internet connection again.

Run troubleshoot for Internet Connection and it says "The default gateway is not available" and "Fixed" and I have internet connection again.

This happens about every half hour or less. Please let me know how to fix it.

Update: I spent many hours reverting to Windows 8.0 and reinstalling all the software I had previously installed. However, it has been 24 hours and the connection has not dropped once.  Will there be a solution to this problem, or should I return it to the supplier for a refund?

    BK,

I am having the same problem.  Internet drops quite often, even as all other devies in the house are working fine, and are FARTHER from the router.  I have the M5-583P, Windows 8.1, and the same network card, the Intel N-7260...driver version 16.5.3.6.

I went ahead and did the 8.1 "upgrade" right after I bought the notebook, so I don't know if 8.1 is creating the problem.

I haven't tried and older driver...and it doesn't look like there are any newer drivers.  I have tried using the 2.4ghz connections well as the 5ghz connection...both have the same problem.

Did you ever find a solution?

I am about to buy one of those very tiny wireless-N USB gizmos...tragic though that I have to do that.

    Thanks...

I'd just like to add that when I run the Windows network troubleshooter, it finds NOTHING wrong...so in that way, our circumstances are different.

After I downgraded to Windows 8 for a couple of days (with absolutely no drops during that time), I made a disk image backup to make it less painful to restore back to 8.0 if I needed to, and I did the upgrade to 8.1 again. This time it installed the Intel ProSet wireless software during the upgrade with the 16.6.0.8 version driver. This has worked MUCH better. Now it only disconnnects an average of every 60-90 minutes I am online. Yes, that is still bad, and it's really crummy that Acer has not been offered any help in this thread. But it used to happen as much as every 10 minutes to as "little" as every half hour, so this is a great improvement. I also found a fast way to get back online (most of the time) and that is to cycle to airplane mode and back. This only takes about 5 or 6 seconds. Sometimes I must run through the Microsoft troubleshooter to get back on line. And twice I have had to reboot. I figured I would wait until close to the thirty days I thought I had to return the computer to Best Buy to see if a solution would be found. I STUPIDLY thought I had 30 days to return the laptop, but it turned out it was only 15 days, and I was too lare. So I am living with it.
