THE BLACK SCREEN OF DEATH! The Acer Aspire has a huge problem with the bios. The machine will powerup - but that's all.

When you go to support on Acer, they have a procedure to reset the bios using a flash drive. That didn't work for me and it has not worked for others. And when you go to Acer Warrenty, you find that your machine is out of warrenty.  Now what? You can't reset to factory settings because you can't even get a screen.

 

This happened to me some time ago before I knew any of this. I put the Acer aside and had to buy another computer. Now when you go on Youtube, you see many people around the globe complaining about their Acer.

 

I would like to see Acer stand behind their products and make the customers whole again. A sudden BLACK SCREEN is a material defect!

    I'm sorry to hear about your issue, movieguy250. Nothing is more frustrating than having your primary PC become a boat anchor. We would really need to get some more specific information about the issue, as we make a LOT of 'Acer Aspire' models. Since your submission is not so much an 'Idea', but more of a product issue, I'm really not the guy who can help you much myself. So here is what I'm going to do.... I'm going to move your note over to our Community Forum under the laptop section AND I am going to notify our folks who monitor that site and provide technical assistance. Here is what YOU need to do.... once the message is on the Community, please write a follow up comment with your model number, and serial number so that our folks can understand exactly what you have and determine what can be done for you. Again, I'm sorry your system has gone south, but I'm hoping the Community group can get you some assistance.
