GMA 3600 driver for opensource OS?

Just wanted to know if Acer provides drivers for opensource OS, such as Linux. I own a Aspire One D270 and have been trying to find apropriate drivers for Debian-based OS.

Of course, I know this is a free-market world so I could just sell this computer and give up on Acer once and for all. But I want to be sure this is not a serious company before doing that.

    Daniel,

We have unit's that ship with Linux as well, and for those unit's we support them with proper drivers. Recently, the E1-431 has been sold through several retailers with Linpus Linux.

HP and Dell may ship different products with more distributions of Linux and I know our marketing teams watch these trends and make decisions about markets and what people are looking for.

I went and checked a few of our competitors and I found the same concepts, if a unit has only shipped with Windows, they don't seem to be providing Linux drivers. Here's one example. http://imgur.com/anaH70G

I hope you find the driver you need, or the notebook that takes care of your needs. Again, I apologize that the Linux support your looking for isn't available on the D270.

    Daniel,

We provide and qualify drivers for the OS(s) that we ship the product with. The AOD270 shipped exclusively with Windows 7 so Linux drivers were never qualified for this system. Hopefully someone in the community has information on appropriate Linux based drivers as I'm certain that plenty of users have had success installing non-OEM operating systems.

    Dear sir,

Anyone can search and find, with any popular search engine, companies that support and look forward to make their equipment compatible with Linux and other OS. ACER is one of the only enterprises that still don't see that. I am an experienced Linux user and I have searched enough to tell that nor Intel, nor Acer made any move to provide the requested drivers for systems other than MS Windows.

Lenovo, Dell, HP and even Asus have several equipment compatible and certified by some famous Linux distributions. Some, like Dell, even ship laptops and desktops with OS like Ubuntu pre-installed into their machines.

Acer is not interested in offering what some of its clients need. So, I made up my mind by deciding to sell this Acer Aspire One I got, buy a Dell, and forget about Acer for good.
