Acer Aspire S3 - is battery conditioning necessary with Li-Pol batteries?

I have a new Acer Aspire S3-391 and I wanted to ask about the Lithium Polymer battery, just for peace of mind as I am inclined to worry with new devices.

When I first got it, I plugged it into the mains before turning it on, as per the instructions in the introductory leaflet.  I later unplugged it after it was fully charged and used it on battery only, running it down to about 45% discharge, then plugged it in again to leave it to charge overnight.

The next day I discovered the battery conditioning information in the user manual, where it stated that the battery should be discharged and recharged 3 times on first use. I have done this now, but my question is will I have harmed the battery in any way by discharging only to 45% and recharging before doing this three times full discharge and recharge with a new battery?  Surely as long as one does this battery conditioning in the first 2-3 days it isn't going to make any difference?

My second question is this: I have since read on various tech sites that Lithium-Polymer batteries (such as the one in the S3) don't have to be conditioned in this way as they don't have a 'memory' as such like the old ni-cad batteries, and that battery conditioning is unnecessary and at most one only needs to do a full discharge and recharge once  month to re-calibrate the battery.  So is the advice in the user manual a bit out of date about battery conditioning with a new unit?

Thirdly, as the battery is not removable (or replaceable?) in the S3 - what does one do when the battery eventually wears out?

Conditioning is not necessary for Lithium Polymer batteries.

You are correct that they do not have the 'memory' issues of the older technologies like Ni-card or the early Li+.
