Icnoia W4 HDMI out issue

As you all know, Acer's new Windows 8.1 tablet, Iconia W4, cannot host and charge through micro USB port at same time. That's fine because it has pretty good battery.

BUT, when you are using HDMI mode, you are likely to use the micro USB port to host and use USB hub for multiple device connection.

Also unlike W3, you have to put your W4 as portrait position on desk for projecting screen for landscape.

I use it to connect with external hard drive and by trackball mouse for playing game or watching video clips.

It drains battery pretty quick, but still use it for like 6-7 hours.

If I project screen as "duplicate" or "extend" it's less than that.

So I'm using "second screen only" option.

And guess what, when you are on "second screen only" projection mode, you can't split screen with multiple apps.

The screen blinks and change to portrait mode for like 1 second, then it blinks again to change back to landscape. Resulting NO GO for splitting screen.

'Duplicate" and "extend" let me split screen.

Does anybody know how to resolve this issue?

I've contacted Acer support with several agents, but no one could fix it.

They all told me to change setting to "duplicate" or "extend."

If Acer support doesn't know, it may just be a limitation of the product. Have you tried on a different external display, or tried taking the USB hub out of the equation?

I have noticed on another Bay Trail tab that it prefers portait mode and will return on almost any event unless you disable (uncheck) the autorotate box in screen resolution & lock on landscape.
