Acer Aspire R7 Randomly Shuts Itself Off - A Power Shortage Issue?

probably should have shut it down but did not, used for another 30 minutes or so until it seemed to be slowing down and I saw odd colors in front of cursor in extreme bottom right of screen,so I shut it off, unplugged it from outlet, stood it on it's side and blew a fan on it for 1 hr.,then I put it about 3 feet away from an electric heater for another 30 minnutes or so,tried to power it up and nothing happened,so I turned it over (opened)and left it alone for 2 days.

Tried again to boot it,no power lights etc.Someone told me to take battery out and hold power button for 30 seconds,I did then reassembled it and tried power,no good, nothing on battery, then I plugged it into wall outlet and it booted right up like normal, but had  red x etc on battery icon, clicked on it and it said ' no battery detected'.

Can someone please tell me what might be  wrong? This computer is aproximately 3 months old if it matters.

Thank you very much.

    Hi notjoe8

If it is working fine on mains it sounds as if the battery itself is at fault.

As your laptop is still under warranty, contact Acer support for your region. It should be covered.

It's worth checking the screws underneath before returning it. The two screws closest to the center need to be present and fully tightened for the battery to power on. If I remove those two screws, I need to plug into the mains, and Windows gives me the same "battery not detected". (Why would I do such a thing, you ask? I have no life.)

Also note that there are two lengths of screw - make sure the long ones are in the center. You can see the screws and where they all go on Youtube.
