The community is going to need some additional information to be able to help.

Does it get to Windows at all?

Can you get into the BIOS?

    What appears on screen?

My machine boots up perfectly, i.e. windows opens and everything functions well. I can get to the bios but can't see anything there that would keep the machine rebooting and rebooting.....

I go thru normal shut down and the machine goes through all the right steps (shutting down windows, saving whatever, etc.( but then instead of turning off, it boots up again and again...

    I'm lost!!!!!!!

    Thanks for your reply.

Ok, sounds like a problem that many people have experienced over the years, but not with a single source.

    Suggested areas to look:

    1.  Make sure the power switch is not stuck.
    2.  Reset BIOS defaults
    3. Go to device manager, network adapter, your network card. Right click, Properities, Power Managment. Check if "allow this device to wake up computer from standby mode" is selected and if so then uncheck it.
    4.  Check recent Windows updates if this just started occuring and roll back before the updates.
If this stops occuring, one of the updates may have changed something.  Apply new updates one at a time to determine which one may be causing an issue.
This may also apply to any settings in BIOS that may wake the system from sleep.
