DA220HQL Standby and screen off issues ???

Hi, I had recently purchased a new DA220HQL All-in-one Android touch monitor.  I'd like to first of say it's a really nice piece of hardware!  Nicely built, and screen resolution is great for my needs. Android seems speedy, and the touch seems responsive.  Of course it'd be great if it sounded like Android would be updated further, but the 4.0.4 is very functional even though i am prevented from installing a lot of apps.  I can sideload though and most seem to work just fine.

My main issue is with usability of sleep and power off issues, that I am wondering if anyone else is experiencing or if Acer can respond to.  It is connected via HDMI to my Acer Aspire r3600 series nettop.  I find that Windows 8 standby no longer functions correctly, when the screen goes off it defaults back to Android... but won't let the Win8 machine go to sleep.  I can put it to sleep manually, but it won't go automatically after a set time.  I have checked all the sleep mode issues online with devices, unchecked everything but mouse & keyboard as allowed to resume from sleep mode.  Also checked powercfg settings etc... from commandline to see if anything was preventing sleep from there... with no luck.

The other issue is that when the Windows 8 display turns off and it defaults back to Android, when android then turns the display off the screen is black, but still backlit i.e. not truly off.  If I turn the Acer/Windows machine off entirely (or hibernate it) then the display will turn all the way off (no backlight).

Hoping someone might have an idea!  Not sure if Acer techs watch this or not but would appreciate a response if they do.  Thanks!

Any ideas?  I am sure this isn't the most popular unit in the world...but it sure is a cool gadget.  It just has these odd usability issues that I am sure could be fixed with an update Acer!!!  Though I hear this unit is considered End of Life now... if thats the case, give us an easy way to get root access so we can at least try to fix some of the various problems within Anroid itself!!!

Looking for an answer I found your topic
Regarding your first problem I have no idea, I have a desktop machine with w7 and suspend well, manually and auto.
About your second problem, I found that the backlight remain on when is connected with the USB cable, if I disconnect the USB before android go to sleep (even with the PC already in suspension) android turn off the backlight well.

Glad to hear someone else is seeing the same behaviors...  Wonder if there is a difference between windows 8 and windows 7 suspend?  Or I wonder if it's an odd little issue with my software / hardware configuration... just can't seem to find anything that would make it do this.

For the backlight... agreed, if something is connected (and on for me) via USB it leaves the backlight on the monitor on even though the screen is black.  If I hibernate windows (so computer is off completely) the screen will go completely off when android suspends the screen... but if in standby it's always on.

I am frustrated with these little remaining issues, and wish Acer would stand by their product with some additional updates to an otherwise great product!
