Corrupt Aspire 5739G Bios

Hi all,

I'm wondering if anyone can help, I have an Aspire 5739G that failed during a BIOS update a while ago, I've searched here (and on google) and seen lots of posts suggesting that I can force the Bios to be loaded by pressing the FN & ESC keys while plugging in the power lead

I've tried this with the latest BIOS files on both a CD and a USB drive and all that seems to happen is the screen flashes very briefly, the blue power light circle flashes twice and the CD light falshes, nothing however then seems to happen except the same sequence over and over. Does anyone have any idea if I can resurrect this laptop?

Thanks for your help.

Tony

  • Holding Fn + Esc while switching on (power already plugged in) forces the BIOS to run code in the recovery block. This instructs the BIOS to boot from FDD.
The FDD should contain the 'Crisis Disk' files. I don't believe the 'Crisis Disk' creation software is officially available outside of Acer. However, I have found some (not for your model I'm afraid) on the net. Looking at an example disk, it should be possible to modify one using your downloaded BIOS. Alternatively, you could try creating your own from scratch with a bootable USB and miniDOS or whatever. All I can suggest is that you spend some time on Google!!
