Acer Aspire 6920 screen flickers then computer shuts off while plugged into charger...

Hello all... As you may be able to tell, I am new here. The computer is an older computer, but I would like to get Ubuntu working on it if possible. Let me explain my situation...

I have this computer that I loved and used quite a bit until it stopped working. I gave up on it until recently when I wanted to give Ubuntu a try. Anyway, what happens is, I put my charger on and the power/side LEDs start blinking... I then try to turn it on and the screen appears to be flickering (or fading in and out). Finally (after about 1-5 minutes of flickering/fading), my computer shuts down. It seems to do this every time. I did discover that while running off just the battery (after not moving the charger cord for a while and the battery getting charged a little), once I unplug the charger, the screen fails to flicker and stays strong until the battery runs out of juice. I have also discovered that if I plug in the charger and hold it up at an angle, the screen doesn't flicker and it stays on as long as I hold it at that angle. Does anyone know the solution to this problem I am having? Do you think it's more the charger or the port that is the issue? Just to give you an idea, I did use several of mine and my family's laptop chargers (the ones that fit in the port) and none of them seem to work. I run into the same issue where I have to hold the charger cord up at an angle to keep it from flickering.

Any help is appreciated. Smiley Very Happy
