Does this tablet have a built-in GPS?  I was hoping to also use it to navigate on the road instead of the much smaller Garmin units.

    Nope, you'd want to buy a USB GPS if you were to use it for navigation. You'd also want to make sure your navigation software includes the maps, since you won't have a data link while driving around.

    In US pretty much have choice of Streets and Trips (Microsoft) or Street Atlas (Delorme). I like Delorme's GUI & display a bit better for driving.

     

    S&T can come with with a MS/Garmin USB GPS receiver. SA may come with a Globalsat but if so make sure you get one (e.g. BU-353-S4) that works with Win 8, the earlier BU-353 requires kludging and does not always work.

     

    Are other products but these are ones I am familiar with.

     

    ps neither works with a Broadcom GNSS module. S&T can work with a third pary shim but SA doesn't.
