I get the following message when restarting my Aspire 5733:

C;user\acer\laptop\appdata\local\conduit\background container\bacground container.dll

How can I get the missing dll?

Answers

  • This appears to be malware (that probably has already been removed as the .dll is missing). If that is indeed the case, you really don't want to get the missing .dll!

It is likely that it is being started by the task scheduler.

This is how you can check:

    Open Control Panel.

    Open Administrative Tools.

    Open Task Scheduler.

    Click on 'Task Scheduler Library'.

    Find 'BackgroundContainer' in the list.

Right click on the entry and select 'Delete'.

    Close all windows and reboot.

You can also use 'Autoruns' from Microsoft to check auto-start programs (but the above may be easier):

Priddin, you have been attacked by Conduit, a home page hijacker. It look like your antimalware has crippled Conduit, but it is still trying to start.

Go to Computer, Drive C, and delete every folder that says Conduit, Container, or BackgroundContainer. Then go to Windows, System 32, and do the same thing. Then do a deep scan with Malwarebytes.
