Aspire M3-581t webcam - black screen!

I've had the machine for a week now & the webcam wasn't working correctly from then (green light but black screen).

 

I ran the upgrade to 8.1 on Tuesday, hoping that may fix this issue. No joy.

 

I've logged a call with Acer, scoured these forums and rolled back to WIN 8 last night. Still no joy.

 

As with most other complainees, the drivers are "correct" but I can't find any online for a WIN 8 64-bit machine. All very frustrating.

 

I didn't buy this JUST for the webcam, that would be a bit sad, but it would be nice to think that I've paid out some serious cash for a fully functioning machine.

 

The Acer responses, from what I've seen, are pretty generically rubbish, as though all users are wasting their time. This seems to be a serious issue and they should be serious about it. Or at the very least, issue updates.

    You've already attempted to resolve possible software issues by reloading to Windows 8. 

    If it is still not working, it sounds like a probable hardware issue, especially that it has never worked for you.
