Acer Aspire 7720 not connecting to WPA security mode

My Acer Aspire 7720 has been connecting to my home network and the Internet via a Belkin router.  Recently, however, it will connect only to the network but not to the Internet.  Guided by an Internet chat (on another PC) with Belkin support, I tried a number of solutions, none of which resolved the problem.  Finally, the support advisor concluded, "Sometimes some devices may not connect with [WPA] mode any more," and that my choices were to "change the mode to a general level to make it to work," which would require changing the connections for all network devices, or updating drivers in the Acer Aspire so it will connect using the WPA security mode.  I prefer the second method, but what drivers must I update so the Acer Aspire will again connect using the WPA security mode?

I am unable to think of a reason why the system would connect to a WPA router and then suddenly would not.

Were there any Windows updates that occured to the system prior to it not connecting?

Drivers for our systems are available on our regional Driver Download pages.
