Aspire One D255E power cable/port issue

Hey all! New to the group, first question: My wife has an Aspire One D55E that no longer is charging it's battery. I really don't think it is the power cord/adapter since the one I own won't charge it either. The "plugged in" icon keeps going on and off in the sys tray and the screen brightens and dims at very radom times. There doesn't seem to be a short in the cord because the Aspire cord/adapter on my identical unit does the same exact thing.  I think it might be the system/mother board. Has anyone had this issue? I might be able to change out the mother board if I know what kind it is and where to find out what kind it is. I've looked in the stem info and nothing is listed there and I can't find anything online either. Any help out there on that? Second question: If it is the system/mother board, would it be feasible to replace the board or but a whole new notebook? Thanks everybody!

    Hi KiddLawson!

It sounds as if the socket on the mobo is loose, or just may need resoldering. A trip to your local PC store should enable it to be fixed, more cheaply than replacing the mobo!

As for replacing the motherboard, it may work out a little cheaper, but if your PC is "getting on a bit" it may well be worth changing it for a newer model.

Let us know how you get on!
