I am now the proud owner of a 1400.00 paperweight. After not even a full 3 days of use windows update kicks in with software updates.
Box hangs and reboots and then goes into a auto recovery loop. Six hours of interrogating MR. Google and no answer that helps resolve the issue. Go to Acer site for support, locate eRecovery disk, order and wait. The shipping date has changed three times since the first email stating when the item should arrive. So, as of now I'll be a week and a half without the computer I just paid 1400.00 for.

Ordered CD on the 9th expected arrival as of now is the 20th, originally the 18th, and to think I scoffed at the two day shipping. I also did some research on the method of delivery, it's called FedEx SmartPost. Oh boy, I'll be lucky if I get this CD by Christmas.

I don't think this is necessarly a fault of Acer I just don't understand why you have to pay another 25.00 to get a CD that cost 1.00 to make. Windows 8 is unimpressive as of now. I'm hoping this post helps others who may be in the market for a new machine and it's running windows 8. I will update this post when and if I receive the rescue disk.

The media showed up today and I must say I was skeptical whether or not I would be able to complete the recovery. There were six discs and not all of them appeared to be in the best shape. I was able to complete the install and then went into Windows update mode. Three iterations of Windows Update and I was finally up to date. I'll let it run a day before I install any software. And again I just wanted to share this experience so that others who may encounter a similar situation may know what they are up against. Stay toooned ...
