Bluetooth problems - first, bluetooth would stop immediately after start, now option is grayed out.

Bluetooth on the Aspire S7 is driving me crazy.  I've had nothing but continual issues with it.

When I got the box with Windows 8, bluetooth worked very inconsistently, but finally I got my bluetooth mouse to connect and work.  Many times, shutdown and reboot would kill it again, but I could go to the Windows 8 wireless settings and find that the Bluetooth switch (on the screen, not a hardware switch) was turned off.  If it was I could turn it back on and get the mouse up again....

Now, I've upgraded to 8.1 and it dies again.  First, I upgraded Bluetooth drivers and that seemed to fix it for awhile, but now, after the latest reboot, I can't even turn on Bluetooth anymore.  It went from showing me a Bluetooth switch on the Wireless Settings page that I could turn on, but immediately turned off, to a totally grayed out button that I can't even turn on anymore...

Argh.

Does anyone have a fix for this? It's making me crazy.

I have Aspire M5.  This is my second M5.  The first returned because of the problem you described and reseting to factory installation did not solve the issue.  What I have learned with my many bluetooth issue is if you do a system restore to the last point where the bluetooth was working you can get your bluetooth back.  I have found that when I wake the computer up from sleep that is when the diffculty starts.  Also my logitech bluetooth speaker adapter does not play nice with the Aspire's bluetooth, nor does my external moniter, and my microsoft bluetooth comfort mouse sometimes is missing in action.

    My recommendations are:

    1. try system restore, if still grayed out

    2.  repair bluetooth driver for Win 8 or Win 8.1

    3. windows key + x -- Device Manager --- Is bluetooth listed if not Acer will tell you to do the factory reset.  In my case it didn't come back, but reinstalling driver did make it come back.

    Hope this helps
