Acer Apire 5334 does not recognise it has a webcam- help

I have bought an Acer Aspire 5334 from a friend and it does not recognise it has a camera. He had wiped it as one would to remove all his stuff and re-installed Windows 7.

My problem is that the webcam does not work and I would like to solve the problem and get it working. My first thought and his was that he had wiped the driver and had not re-installed it so I got the disk with the driver on and tried to re-install. No luck as it told me that the "Acer Crystal Eye Webcam was not found"

Any ideas please

    Hi Sue

Have you checked in Device Manager that the computer "sees" the webcam?

If it is there, and is showing an exclamation by it, then the driver is not installed - the one you tried may be incorrect. Go to the Acer support site for your region, click on the "Drivers & Manuals" tab and enter the details of your laptop. You can then find the right driver for your model.

However, if it is not listed in Device Manager, then possibly the cable that connects your webcam to the mobo has worked loose, or the webcam itself has failed. Take it to your local PC store to see if they can repair it.
