Is it possible to upgrade this old but reliable laptop to Windows 7 ?

Acer, if it is possible, it will probably be a mistake.

Your rig has a single-core processor, and XP is the queen of single-core processors. 7 is designed for dual-core, and the single-core version is not as good as XP.

By upgrading, you lose all your Acer drivers.  If you re-install them, they are not designed for Windows 7. If you find Windows 7 drivers, they are not designed for your machine.

CNET gives your machine a ravaging good review. But its one gig of RAM will have a hard time maintaining 7's heavier requirements.

Thank you Vince53. Even tho I added another gig of RAM, I suspected this rig wasn't up for the job. It has had a good run for the past 7 years. Time for a new lappy. Thanks again.
