Aspire Won't Start & Charger Problem

Hello all,

 

I bought an Acer Aspire 5738ZG four years ago, and it has never really caused me any major problems (apart from the odd virus, and one encounter with BSOD).

 

However, presently I am not able to turn my laptop on at all.

 

When I plug in the charger into the laptop, two things are of particular interest:

1. The LED to show that the laptop is charging doesn't turn on
2. The green light from the charger keeps flashing/blinking every time it is plugged into the laptop. When it is not plugged in, the light on the charger remains a solid green colour.

It may also be worth mentioning that my laptop has long advised me to change my battery, something I haven't gotten round to doing.

 

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

With the AC adapter plugged in, does the system power on?

 

If you remove the battery, does the system power on?

 

If both of the above are true, it sounds like you have a battery problem.
