Very keen to buy the Acer Iconia W510 for my daughter for Christmas.

When I recently visited Currys, a very helpful salesman (obviously not on commision) advisedd me to hold of purchasing the current one as Acer were due to release an upgraded version of the Iconia W510 before Christmas.

Despite trawling the internet and making contact with Acer Customer services, I have been unable to confirm if there is new release pending or any other info.

Does anyone out there know different please.

Many thanks

Hey Bro, not know of a second variant of the Iconia W510 coming but do check out the new Iconia W4 with the latest Intel Atom Baytrail Z3770D quad core. Tablet is a 8" with IPS Display and 2GB Ram...

    a) For details I suggest looking at the Acer data sheet , often the media is wrong about things like exactly which processor is being used.

    b) What would make a lot of sense would be a single chassis with the same software/BIOS/drivers in both 8" and 10.1" or even a netbook/ultrabook form factor. After all, if it can fit in an 8" tab it could fit in just about anything.

    c) The next step would be mix and match accessories and expansion such as 1.8 or 2.4 GHz CPU, 2 or 4 GB memory; 32,64,120,??? GB SDD or rotating device; 32 or 64 bit OS; external displays, cases, docks, etc.

Botton line, I have only seen mention of the W4-820 so far but a W520-820 would be very simple and use almost all the same comonents (could fit a larger battery).
