Hi  all,

My name is Hans and I have been an Acer user for several years now.

Until now I have had few problems with my AM1100-e 1304A

Some time ago I put in a new PS for( a 480W Reactor) to support a dual DVI output card.

Workd well for 2 years. Till the card blew. (A Nvidia card too)

Now I have had to change my graphics card to an NVIDIA GenForce GT630 with the 9.18.13.2018 drivers,

OS is Win 7 with latest patches in place.

PCI Ex card and I am having cold boot problems.

The PC will boot normally untill it tries to load windows 7, then the monitor shuts down.

After several re-boots the pc boots completely and I can do everything I want to do.

I'm not a gamer so the PC is used mainly for Office work and some Audio and Video editing, Hence the dual screens.

The MB bios (SM bios v. 2.4- Sys bios v. 6.00PG) has not been updated as I can't find one on the Acer site.

Has anyone had this problem and how was it been resolved.

Thanks for the help

Hans

    Hello Hans!

The only two issues that may be causing your problems are:

    1. The power supply may be at fault. Sometimes power supplies can seem to work OK for a while despite being faulty - then they can start playing up!

    2. Graphics Card. Your new card may be at fault

If you can, swap out one at a time, the above items to see if the problem prevails. My gut feeling is the power supply.

    Good luck!

    Thanks finlux,

That is the way I am leaning too.

Was hoping it wouls be a win 7 fix as it always seems to happen when win boots.

If I boot in safe mode it works OK.

    Go figure!

    Thanks

Safe mode doesn't use the graphics driver. It uses the VGA graphics!

Ok I have replaced the power supply.

No change, Works OK in Safe mode.

Deleted all the NVidia *****, left just the drivers.

    Still same problem.

Will start boot and shut down video, but power still on.

Will run after several hard reboots.

Tried to find MB BIOS upgrade, none available?

This issue takes a log time as I have to let the PC cool off to recreate the issue.

    Very frustrating.

Acer is no help as support is non existant.

Going to try unplugging the DVI cable and using the on board VGA with graphicas card in place.

Will let you know the result tomorrow.

    Hans
