A new quality focus - a new logo

After the record loss for Acer and the resignment of CEO and Chairman JT Wang, it is time to look ahead and start anew. The main problem with Acer is the low build quality of cheaper models. One has to buy premium Acer products like the Acer Aspire S 7 to truly get high build quality and high performance parts. This is where Acer needs to rethink the strategy.

To wash away the bad image many have of Acer due to shoddy craftsmanship, there is only one solution: find a cheap way to up the build quality on all Acer units and ensure that this is reflected in the design of the respective units.

To make this even more visible, Acer should change to a new logo and invite the press to talk about the new quality focus and reveal the new logo along with some new units.

Ways to ensure quality:
- Use high quality polycarbonate like Nokia did in the Lumia 920 phone

- Use matte plastic only - shiny plastic looks cheap and tacky and gets visibly dirty

- Have strong and sturdy hinges on all units - no wobbling!

- Make the design as clean as possible

- Fewer chassis parts ensures rigid units - look at the new Google Chrome laptops from HP

----- There should be no flex around the keyboard or on the lid!

- Do not add a logo on the frame around the screen - it takes away the focus from the screen

----- The same goes for logos, slogans and similar stuff that takes away from a clean design - anywhere on Acer units!

----- Acer should only have a logo on the laptop lid, no letters!

- Screen resolution should be 1080p and up. No units should have lower resolution - no exceptions!

But most importantly, Acer needs to drop the horribly boring design on the cheaper units. Make a unique design language and steer away from the old looks! The Aspire One series is horrid, especially the black bottom of the units, which ruins the aesthetics. The Acer Chromebooks also look dated.
